I've created a summary of all the airmiles business credit cards below. I've also provided a summary of which card you should choose based on your companies spending in a year.

American Express Airmiles Gold Credit Card

You have a few different options to consider which I've discussed below. I've also given an example of spending $15,000 and $100,000 with your credit cards and which card you should apply for.

While researching the credit cards for this article I found an Aeroplan credit card that might be better than the airmiles credit cards. I've included this one Aeroplan card for completeness.

To show a good example of which card you should choose I decided to give two example of spending $15,000 and $100,000 per year for 2 years. I chose two years as some cards give bonuses for the first year only. Obviously, I'm overlooking some factors like where they money is being spent, number of people using the card, etc.... However, this may help you to draw conclusions on which card to apply for based on the number of points and spending amount.

Spending $15,000 / year for 2 years
American Express Airmiles = 750 airmiles / year + 100 = 1600 Airmiles (Card Costs: $0)
BMO Bronze Mastercard = 375 airmiles / year = 750 Airmiles (Card Costs: $0)
BMO Silver Mastercard = 750 airmiles / year = 1500 Airmiles (Card Costs: $120)
BMO Gold Mastercard = 1000 airmiles / year = 2000 Airmiles (Card Costs: $210)
American Express Aeroplan = 15000 aeroplan / year + 25,000 = 55,000 Aeroplan points (Card Costs: $180)
Assuming that you need at least 900 Airmiles to fly and 15,000 Aeroplan points. The two best cards are the American Express Airmiles credit card and the American Express Aeroplan card is the best deal as it will get you over three flights

Spending $100,000 / year for 2 years
American Express Airmiles = 5000 airmiles / year + 100 = 10,100 Airmiles (Card Costs: $0)
BMO Bronze Mastercard = 2500 airmiles / year = 5000 Airmiles (Card Costs: $0)
BMO Silver Mastercard = 5000 airmiles / year = 10,000 Airmiles (Card Costs: $120)
BMO Gold Mastercard = 6667 airmiles / year = 13,333 Airmiles (Card Costs: $210)
American Express Aeroplan = 100,000 aeroplan / year + 40,000 / year + 25,000 = 305,000 Aeroplan points (Card Costs: $180)

Assuming that you need at least 900 airmiles to fly and 15,000 aeroplan points. The Aeroplan card is far and away the as it's 11 flights vs. 20 flights.

Without the American Express Platinum Credit Card
Safeway - $100 (1 for every $20) = 5 airmiles
Shell - $30 (1 for every $20 and 1 for every $30 after) = 1 airmiles
Rona - $30 (1 for every $20) = 1 airmile
Starbucks (or others) - $50 = 0 airmiles
Total = 7 airmiles

With an American Express Platinum Credit Card
Safeway - $100 = 5 airmiles + 10 airmiles (1 for every $10 with credit card)
Shell - $30 = 1 airmiles + 3 airmiles (1 for every $10 with credit card)
Rona - $30 = 1 airmiles + 3 airmiles (1 for every $10 with credit card)
Starbucks (or others) - $50 = 0 airmiles + 3 airmiles
Total = 7 airmiles + 19 airmiles = 26 airmiles

I know this example doesn't look like a lot (only 19 airmiles). However, imagine this throughout a whole year (364 vs. 1352) and buying more stuff with your credit card will earn more points. As you can see it can REALLY add up!

If you have a small business this is a great way to get some extras while buying things you would normally have to anyway. You can try it for a year free too! This is a really really easy way to get 150 bonus airmiles. I know that some people don't agree with getting airmiles like this. However, people sign-up for a credit card at hockey games to get free t-shirts ... so 150 airmiles is really a much better deal. If you're looking at it this way.

• Collect at 1 airmile for every $40 spent
• $0 Annual Fee
• Double reward miles at select sponsors

American Express Free Credit Card

• Collect at 1 airmile for every $20 spent
• No fee Credit Card
• 100 Bonus AIR MILES®* reward miles

I highly recommend the American Express Airmiles Credit card because of the lower dollar amount for the airmiles. The only real drawback of this card is that American express credit cards aren't accepted at as many places as the Mastercard. Either way, you have to be sure that you have an airmiles credit card of some sort to start Earning Air Miles®* reward miles today.

This is the first annual fee credit card from American Express for Air Miles. Here are the details:

• 1 airmile for every $10 spent at sponsors (Safeway, Westjet, Rona, Sportchek, etc..)
• 1 airmile for every $15 spent everywhere else
• 250 bonus Airmiles after first purchase
• Car Rental Theft and Damage Insurance
• Annual fee of $50
• Apply for the American Express® AIR MILES®* Platinum Credit Card

To summarize. This card looks like an upgraded version of the No fee Credit Card. What it comes down to is how much you're willing to spend on your credit card. The extra bonuses of car rental damage, travelers insurance are a nice little bonus. However, you can get a credit card with these bonuses without having to pay an annual fee.
