Last week I went to Safeway and purchased a few items from the weeks best air miles deal. I bought the 3 boxes of General Mills cereal for $10, which should get me 50 Air Miles.

However, when checking the receipt I noticed that I wasn't credit for these air miles. So I went to customer service right-away and asked what happened. Turns out Safeway had the exact same special, minus the airmiles bonus, on Kellogg's cereal. I had purchased 2 General Mills and 1 Kellogg's.

Customer service was very helpful and I returned the 3 boxes and purchased the correct number of General Mills cereal. Thus getting my 50 Bonus Air Miles!!!

Now, between September 22 and October 24, 2010, use three or more different specially marked coupons in connection with purchases made at participating AIR MILES Sponsors and get 85 reward miles. The other option is to choose a $10 gift card from Safeway, Shell or RONA.

My personal preference is the 85 airmiles as that's a good chuck of airmiles (for free) whereas $10 isn't a lot of money. Even using the average weeks best airmiles price of $0.30 you're much better off getting the 85 free airmiles!

This tool is great because you can determine the EXACT number of airmiles to fly from your destinations. No more wondering how much it costs to fly from Edmonton to Montreal or elsewhere! AND even better is you can BOOK your flights online too!

The tool is easy to use too. You simply enter your locations and dates and the tool will tell you how many airmiles it is to fly. You can then proceed to book your tickets ONLINE. This is a HUGE step for airmiles as you no longer have to wait 1.5 hours on the phone to book a flight or find out that you can't book a flight. Then if you want to book it you can do that online too!

Great work Airmiles! This is just another reason to follow the weeks best airmiles deals and to own an airmiles credit card to collect your Air Miles faster and fly sooner!

It's interesting to note the number of airmiles that vary from week to week. The most common promotions lately is the Buy 2 get 40 or Buy 2 get 50. While the price seems to be constant at either $6.99 for 15-doubles or $5.99 for 12-doubles.

What's interesting though is the fact that this week the promotion is $6.99 - Buy 2 get 40 airmiles but last week was $6.99 - Buy 2 get 50 airmiles. This isn't a huge difference at only 10 airmiles but still worth considering.

What this shows us is that we are looking to get at least 50 airmiles from tissue paper airmiles promotions!

"I forgot my Airmiles card at XXX store (Safeway, Rona, Boston Pizza, etc...) can I still get the airmiles points?"

The answer is yes! Simply go to customer service with your receipt and Air Miles card. They will write down the amount, airmiles card number and other information and you should get credit for those points.

Beware that you may have to track your BONUS airmiles separately as they might not record all those points.

2) Visit the airmiles tower - Safeway has a tower that shows you all the airmiles specials going on that week. I prefer to follow the weeks best airmiles deals to get the best deals. :p

3) Customer Appreciation Day - Get 10% off or 10X the base airmiles on the first tuesday of each month.

4) Get an airmiles credit card. We recommend the American Express Platinum Credit Card

5) Sign Up for Email Direct - Get 100 airmiles FREE!

6) Look for blue - Safeway has a blue sign whenever bonus airmiles are possible on products

7) Use the Safeway Pharmacy - Get 7x the airmiles when shopping at the pharmacy

8 ) Collect Together - Airmiles cards for additional family members is free, might as well get some extras!

9) Bonus Offers - Watch for bonus offers, especially on my site best air miles deals!

10) Liquor Purchases - You can collect airmiles at Safeway liquor stores (where applicable).
