Westjet Removes the Fuel Surcharge!
Did everyone hear the HUGE news in the airline industry on Thursday last week? Westjet is removing the Fuel Surcharge from all flights!
Why did they remove the fee?
From the press release, "The elimination of the fuel surcharge supports WestJet’s commitment to providing the best value to its guests, which is the premise for the airline’s new advertising campaign."
Be warned that now when booking your flights to look at all the costs. Air Canada might look like they have a cheaper flight then Westjet, but after taxes and surcharges I bet the two prices will be fairly similar (or Westjet slightly cheaper!)
Don't forget to book a flight on Westjet until October 16th and use the double airmiles bonus offer code!

Actually, Air Canada has done the same:

“Further, Air Canada is making its pricing more transparent by removing add-on fuel surcharges for flights within North America and instead adjusting its base fares to cover the total cost of fuel,” said Smith. “These initiatives are made possible by the recent relief from all-time high oil prices and even though fares will remain dynamic, Air Canada is committed to everyday low prices and will continue to match the lowest fares in the marketplace.”
So Westjet has made this decision in order to keep their advertised prices comparable to Air Canada.
