More Hacked Information
SO, as everyone probably knows bestairmiledeals.com was hacked into during the labor day long weekend. Which sucks. I came back to see what sort of traffic I had during the long weekend (which is normally low) and I had zeros since Friday. I wasn't sure exactly why I had zeros until I noticed that the site was hacked. It seemed like a relatively simple hack as all I had to do to repair the hack was to remove the index.html file.
Then today I was curious. If I was hacked by cyberroot how many other people were? So I did a simple google search with "hacked by cyberroot" and came up with 555 other sites that were hacked! Man that's a lot of sites. So, obviously this cyberroot has some sort of program that finds vunerable sites and hacks them accordingly. Which, if it didn't happen to me sort of way, is kinda neat!
Anyway, like I said before it's all back to normal. It's a great learning experience as this is my first 'real' go at making and updating regularly a website. I'll now know for my other sites that are currently being worked on to
- always update my wordpress to the latest version
- keep the permissions set as strict as possible
I guess you live and learn... Live and Learn!
