HBC to Airmiles
I've been shopping at the Bay and Home Outfitters more and more because of weddings and registries and such. While I was there today I asked what my points can actually get me. The first thing the lady said was that I can cash the points in for airmiles. This is definitely true as i've written about here.
However, I wanted to know what the points can get in terms of HBC (The bay, home outfitters, etc..). Apparently 80,000 points can get you a $10 gift card to HBC. Points are collect for each cent spent (I think). So, if you spend $1600 you'd get 80,000 points and get a $10 gift card.
As we know cashing them in for airmiles gives us 1 airmile for every 2,000 points. So this basically works out to a simple 1 airmile for every $40 spent. Making this not a very good deal. To get to a more resonable points per-airmile ratio then you can use the HBC credit card which gives you double points (which converts to 1 airmile for every $20 spent).

Thus making this basically the same deal as every other store except you're using your credit card. Although, this can work out in your favour if you shop on customer appreciation day at HBC which gives you 10% off. So if you're looking to collect airmiles faster every points counts and collecting while shopping at HBC is a just another possible method.
