Air Miles (no matter from which sponsor) are only valuable to those needing to fly to smaller markets where ticket prices are high. One must maximize there frequent flyer points! Most credit cards or debit cards only give you 1% cash back (or points/airmiles value). The absolute best credit card for return is GM card if you plan on purchasing new GM cars or trucks at 3% cash back. There used to be a Ford card years ago that paid you 5% cash back (I miss that one). If you dont plan on purchasing a new GM, then my fave card is the Citi Card Platinum Drivers Edge Card that pays you 2% cash back when you purchase any new/used car (sort of a lame excuse for reimbursement). Personally I have cashed in over $3000 over the last few years. Any thoughts? Please add your 2 cents worth...

i just wanted to say that I've had the american express (amex) no-fee air miles card for years. when i first got it, not a lot of people accepted amex. today, happily, most places do.
i was one of the passengers who booked on jetsgo right before they went broke, and amex put a hold on the charge, settled it with the vendor, reimbursed my money, and i didn't have to do more than one original phone call.
i have a few credit cards, and amex has the absolute best over-the-phone customer service - blows the others away.
the air miles are a big bonus!

thanks for your blog - it is fantastic.
