Airmiles for flights – Part III
BE SURE TO CHECK THE DATE OF THE COUPON/POST - Old posts are NOT removed as they must remain in-order for you to find this site and the most recent deals. This is the third in an ongoing series of: spending your airmiles for flights, the fees involved in airmiles flights and tips and tricks to flying. Part 1 can be found here, Part 2 can be found here.
Today i'll concentrate on some tips if you are booking an airmiles reward flight.
- Flights are non-exchangeable and non-refundable
- Book early (as I keep repeating). This is the best way to ensure you get the desired flight
- Travel insurance will only cover what the terms and conditions state. Be very very careful about this and read the fine print!
- Have a GOLD Mosaik Credit Card. The most you'll pay for a continental north america flight is 1600 airmiles.
- Fly long distances. This is only true if you adhere to number 4 and sounds kinda funny. Basically the idea is, the further you fly the more the normal cost of a flight. If you're getting the flight free then you might as well get the most bang for your buck.
Remember to always book early as you don't want to be disappointed. If anyone else has had experience with this please leave a comment. Myself and my readers would love to hear from you.

I agree, these flying posts might be due for a refresh, as the 1600 mile limit doesn’t apply, and the Safeway gift certificate no longer applies.
I travel for free, but I don’t book my tickets through Westjet or the Airmiles program. Westjet doesn’t fly into my community (yet) and I don’t like paying all the extra fees/taxes that apply when I buy through Airmiles. I buy Sobey’s gift certificates with our airmiles (in the Maritimes the program is with Sobeys, not Safeway)then put the money I’ve “saved” on groceries into a dedicated bank account. When I see a good seat sale or other travel deal, with any luck I’ll have enough money in the account to take advantage of it.
yes i agree the phsomaticle diforence put stress on the hygenic purpose. It is a major down fall, but hey we all have to make sacrafices
The fees charged by Air Miles to book flights are excessive. I am working on legal action to get Air Miles customers that booked flights in the past 1 1/2 years a refund. Email me directly if interested at lornehoedel@hotmail.com
Thank you.

The tip about getting the BMO gold mastercard was excellent. Just to fly from Toronto to Florida racks up 3000 air miles per person, 1600 is a much sweeter deal.
thanks
Hi, Do you have a chart showing how many airmile points are needed to travel to different destinations? All I see are purchase posibilites from retail merchants. What about true travel points?

A little problem, you keep refering to the GOLD mosaik credit card 1600 airmile limit. That offer has been turfed and has since been replaced with 20% off your flight… and that can’t be combined with any other offers.
