Use your Airmiles to get Gift Certificates
Today we’ll talk a little about SPENDING your hard earned airmiles. I will post a weekly item(s) that you can spend your airmiles on. Because spending the airmiles is the best part really.
Today i’ll talk about gift certificates. One of the great ways to see a return (without paying extra money) on your Aimiles is through Gift Certificates. Most companies that deal with airmiles will credit you with a gift certificate for your airmiles.
The rate of return varies per store varies, so i’ll summarize a couple of different amounts. I’m working on a better way to list all the stores and gift certificates amount and I hope to have that up soon.
- Reitman’s - 125 - $20 (airmiles-to-dollar ratio 6.25)
- Roots - 125 - $20 (airmiles-to-dollar ratio 6.25)
- A&P, Dominion Food - 140 - $20 (airmiles-to-dollar ratio 7)
- Second Cup Coffee - 170 - $20 (airmiles-to-dollar ratio 8.5)
- Shell Gas - 175 airmiles - $20 (airmiles-to-dollar ratio 8.75)
- Chapters, Indigo - 185 - $20 (airmiles-to-dollar ratio 9.25)
- Gap Clothing - 185 - $20 (airmiles-to-dollar ratio 9.25)
Basically anything with a 125 - $20 means if you can collect airmiles at a rate of $0.3 (conservative estimate) you can get a gift certificate for $37.50. To see a full list of stores login to your airmiles.ca account and do a “rewards merchanise search” for gift certificates.

Hi Laurie,
You’ll have to call airmiles. I’m not sure if those are actually available though so you should check on the airmiles website first. http://www.airmiles.ca
