Best Air Miles Deals

I just saw this on the airmiles website and thought that it was kinda neat and worth considering. I’m not exactly sure how it works but here are some of the details.

For 625 airmiles you can add $100 to your child’s New Registered Education Saving Plan (RESP). Redeem your reward miles today and help fund your child’s post-secondary education.

Redeem for a $100 deposit - a minimum of $300 is required to initiate a plan. Multiple redemptions for a $100 deposit or a combination of cash and certificates can be used.

Don’t like saving up for a flight with your airmiles points? How about using your airmiles for a small little gift or reward. Here are a few airmiles deals worth considering.

Jean Coutu - Spend 160 airmiles and get a $20 giftcard. This is a pretty good deal and inline with most gift certificate offers.

DVD’s - Most DVD’s at the airmiles stores cost around 280 airmiles. This works out to a fairly bad deal. The better way to go is to simply order a chapters.indigo.ca gift card. These gift cards cost 185 airmiles and you get $25 towards Chapter, Indigo or Coles.

Cinneplex Movie Night Out - 175 airmiles and you get 2 free admissions, 2 regular sodas and 1 regular popcorn. This is actually quite a good deal considering that most movies are $12. This works out to an approximate value of $30 for 175 airmiles!

Magazine or Paper Subscription - Calgary Sun, Edmonton Sun, LouLou, Chatelaine, etc… From 65 airmiles up to 265 airmiles.

Charity Donations - Donate $20 to either Special Olympics or Kids Help Phone charity for 170 airmiles.

Remember, today is customer appreciation day at Safeway. You’ll get 10% off or 10 times the airmiles when you spend $35 or more at safeway. Get to safeway and take advantage of this deal.

This is a really great promotion depending on how you take advantage of the deal.  For example:

If you spent $100 and took the 10 times the airmiles you’ll get 5 base airmiles ($20 for 1 airmile). Then you’ll get 10 times which works out to 50 airmiles. If you were to use your No fee Credit Card then you could get an extra 5 airmiles from this deal. Combine this with the weeks best airmiles deals and you could easily get over 200 airmiles for $100!

Airmiles special at Jean Coutu circular this weekend, Saturday and Sunday will earn you 5x in Air Miles points if you buy $45 or more. 

Secondly, here are a couple of quick promotions that are related to mothers day. Remember mothers day is coming up next weekend so now’s the time to order something if you’re going to do it online. Here are a few ideas. If none of these work you can consider something as simple as making her a card. Whatever you do just be sure to call your mom today.

I just noticed that Marlin Travel is having an airmiles special where you can earn up to 450 airmiles when you book a travel vacation through them.

You can simply go here and see what the deals are.  

I entered Alberta and noticed that I could get 450 airmiles when I book a stateroom on a cruise.  Or I could get 500 airmiles when I book a Luxury European Vacation.   Both are a little out of my budget.   At this time of year I prefer to just fly around Western Canada with Westjet.

This isn’t one of those deals to ‘jump’ on, however, if you were planning on taking a vacation sometime soon it’s worth taking a look at the specials.

A little heads up to everyone that Westjet is currently having a seat sale. The sale is valid until May 1st for travel until June 25th.

I must warn you that the prices in the sale aren’t fabulous. However, it is a summer seat sale and is sort of what I expect to see during this time of year. WestJetusually releases one crazy seat sale sometime in the spring but we haven’t seen it yet. I’ll let everyone know if they do release one.
